Third Block
On February 17 my chemistry classes performed a flame test to identify cations in a solution or salt. Students used loops of nichrome wire which they dipped into solutions of various salt samples. When the loop is then placed in the flame it will burn with a color or property that is unique to that metal.
Fourth Block
During the course of this experiment, students will see colors ranging from crimson red, to fuscia, green and blue, the orange of a “normal” flame or even sparks like a firework.
